Michelle was born in the Jacaranda city Pretoria on the 15th of November. She spends her childhood years in Secunda, Mpumalanga and matriculated at High school Secunda in 2000. During her primary- and high school career, Michelle took part in various operettas, revues and concerts. It is during these events that she discovered her love and passion for the art of making music. From a very early age Michelle also enjoyed doing modeling and spends a lot of time taking part in fashion parades and even wins a few beauty pageants in the process. At the age of sixteen, Michelle decides to devote her career to singing and starts with professional vocal coaching.

In 2001, Michelle started her B.Mus (Performing Arts) studies at the University of Pretoria. During her studies she receives multiple master classes from achieved singers such as, Mimi Coertse, Kobie van Rensburg, Svein Bjørkøy, Cladio Danuse and Szusa Alföndi. In 2003 Michelle sings the roll of Bastienne in the Mozart opera “Bastien und Bastienne” under the direction of Mimi and the baton of Prof. Eric Rycroft. |
In 2004 the music department takes on a more challenging opera by Mozart, “Der Zauberflöte”. This time Michelle sings the role of Pamina, directed by Dr. Mart Munrou and conducted by Prof. Eric Rycroft. During her four years of study, Michelle receives singing tuition from Me. Ina Snyman and Prof. Werner Nel. In her years of study, Michelle considered herself as very fortunate to have had the opportunity to share the stage with many well known artists in the classical- and lighter genres. These artists include; Dewald van Solms, Hanelli Stapela, Liz Lombaardt and André Schwarts. Michelle finished her B.Mus
degree in 2004.
The first five months of 2005 were devoted to the musical “The Sound of Music”. Here Michelle played the part of a nun and together with the rest of the cast they filled the auditoriums of the Sandt du Plessis and the State Theatre for three months. After that project she decided that she was ready to record her debut album, “To Be Real”. With the help of an accomplished lyricist and songwriter they worked on nine original songs in the classical-pop genre. In October of 2006, Michelle launched her “To Be Real” album with a gala function at Emperors Palace in the “Theatre of Marcellus”. The show is tide together as a whole with a previously recorded dvd playing in the background during the production. “To Be Real” is a production of the highest standards and guarantees to take audience’s breath away with spectacular music, visuals and costumes.

In early 2007 Michelle became a part of the Music Profile production “Fantastic 4” Together with artists Pieter Koen, Danie Niehaus en Irene van Wyk they toured not only South Africa but also neighboring countries and lit up the stages of many cities with original but also well known songs. Later that year, she shared the stage with other well known artists at the “6de Afrikaanse Klipdrif Musiekfees” and in October of 2007, Michelle sang a duet with Gerrie Pretorius at his Dvd Recording of the “Ek sing vir jou Bles” album at Carnival City in The Big Top Arena. |
2008 turned out to be a year full of excitement and fun. Michelle gets the opportunity to record het debut Afrikaans album at Maroela Music. She goes for an audition for “7de Laan” and in October she plays a small role as Esti in this popular soap. Celebrity Music Management incorporation with Sun
International put together a show “Legends of the Sun”. A
stunning variety of old and new songs were performed by
Michelle, Gerrie, Wynand and Rudi. In 2009 the decision to
study further went over into action and this time she
aspires a degree in journalism.
Michelle is an artist with passion and
devotion. She not only focuses on the technical aspects of
her music but more so, on the interpretation of her songs.
In 2008 she will be introducing her debut in the Afrikaans
genre and this promise to be an unforgettable product of the
highest standards.
